A woman who was punched in the head 'at least 50 times' after a brutal attack by four teenagers in Maidstone is speaking out to thank the police and hospital staff who supported her recovery.
Tracey Worsell was taking her daily walk through Mote Park at around 8.15pm in April when she was approached from behind.
She was on the footpath heading towards Willington Street when a teenage boy screamed in her ear so loudly it caused her a lot of pain.
When she asked him why he did it, the situation quickly escalated and four teens punched her to the floor, kicking, and spitting at her.
Now six months on and Mrs Worsell is still recovering and suffers from severe whiplash, tinnitus and migraines as a result.
But despite the terrifying ordeal, she has chosen to speak out to thank the emergency services for pulling her through.
Mrs Worsell, who is a piano tuner, said: "All I could think while they were punching me was ‘I’m going to die’.
"Without a doubt they would have killed me but the only reason they didn't was because I said I’ve got a heart condition and I’m about to have a heart attack.
“I don’t remember all of the details but one said ‘I think she’s had enough’.
Before the attack, she was on the phone to a friend who heard the incident unfold.
“My phone was cracked but still working so my friend heard it all but not word for word,” she added.
Police were alerted and four officers arrived at Mrs Worsell's home in Weavering while three others collected evidence at the park.
She says the compassion she received went 'beyond the call of duty' and officers drove her to Maidstone Hospital where she received further treatment.
Mrs Worsell added: "While I was there they did swabs but what was beautiful was that the lady officer came up to me personally and said 'here is my number, call me if you need anything'.
"The guy on duty said the same and it was just perfectly beautiful.
"The doctors and nurses at Maidstone hospital were amazing too and they are all what got me through the attack.
"It really helped knowing they were there for me and I want everyone to know that because people have been knocking the police nationally and because of Sarah Everard, it hasn't been the right time to speak out, but I got through it because all seven of them that night were fantastic."
No arrests were ever made in connection to the incident.
