Source Bar nightclub in Maidstone put up for sale after 25 years

A town centre nightclub has been put on the market for just under £1million.

Source Bar in Maidstone is in the heart of the town and has been operating as a club for around 25 years.

Now, the freehold for the two-storey site in Rose Yard, between Earl Street and High Street, is up for sale at £850,000.

Estate agent Sibley Pares is selling the property and has knocked £100,000 off the guide price since it was first listed in September.

It said: “The ground floor can be accessed via two separate entrances, both leading into the main bar which has four service areas, while the rear is a second dance floor and cocktail bar, leading to an external drinking area and DJ booth to the back of the premises.

“Also on the ground floor are two separate ladies' and gents' toilets, as well as a disabled facility.

“The first floor comprises a lounge bar and a club room, each with their own separate bars and balcony smoking areas. the first floor also benefits from its own toilet facilities.”

The ground floor space is the largest and totals around 3,213 sq ft, while the first floor compromises 2,422 sq ft. The second floor is the smallest space in the building and totals 452 sq ft.

Source Bar has hit headline before following a number of incidents, including a 20-year-old man found unresponsive by a clubber who was rushed to hospital but later died.

Due to the nightclub’s town centre location there have also been several incidents of crime near it.

More recently, it had been the home of happier scenes when it was used by football supporters to cheer on England’s football team at the World Cup and European Championships.

Source Bar benefits from a 24-hour trading licence for up to 600 people and has an additional licence for outdoor events for up to 1,300 people.
