A mum has appealed to a van driver to “own up” after her son was knocked off his motorbike on a busy road in a hit and run and “left for dead”.
The 52-year-old, who did not wish to be named, said her teenage son was on his bike on the A20 in Bearsted on Sunday evening when a van pulled out of Roseacre Lane and hit him.
She said: “The van pulled out straight into his path and he went over it.
“Like a true coward he raced off down Spot Lane, leaving him for dead – there’s now a dent the size of my son in the side of his van.”
Luckily, the 17-year-old did not sustain any serious injuries and was just “battered and bruised”.
The mum, who rushed to the scene immediately after the crash, added: “I felt completely sick when I got the call, it was just horrendous.
“It’s just the worst moment of your life, especially seeing him lying in the road.
“If he has even one ounce of human decency he will own up to what he has done...”
“The guy in the van just sped off, there’s no way he didn’t know he’d hit him because he went right over the bonnet.
“If he has even one ounce of human decency he will own up to what he has done.”
Police confirmed they were called to the scene in Ashford Road at 9.23pm.
A spokesman said: “Officers and ambulance crews attended and the bike rider was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged.
“The van driver failed to stop after the collision and inquiries have not yet led to him or the vehicle being identified.”
