An illegal encampment of travellers has turned up at a park.

Around half a dozen caravans, along with trucks, turned up at Mote Park in Maidstone at around 10pm yesterday.

Maidstone Borough Council officers are currently on site dealing with the encampment.

A spokesman for the council said: "We are aware of an unauthorised encampment in Mote Park, and MBC Officers are on-site undertaking the relevant investigations."
