Driver 'threatened with imitation firearm' in East Peckham

A driver was threatened with what is believed to have been an imitation firearm during a road rage incident on the A228 in East Peckham.

It happened during an altercation after two vehicles came to stop on the A228 dual carriageway, close to the roundabout for Seven Mile Lane and Maidstone Road.

Police say a man in a Silver Renault van allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a weapon and made threats to the driver of a green Toyota Soarer.

Both vehicles left the scene and headed off in the Tunbridge Wells direction.

It happened on Saturday at around 2pm.

A witness contacted police after seeing what happened and officers carried out a search for the Renault, which was found in Crowborough, East Sussex.

They found an imitation firearm in the vehicle.

The driver, a 64-year-old man from Chatham, was arrested and later released pending further investigation.
