There are unconfirmed reports of an “incident” at Maidstone’s three-storey Mall shopping centre this morning.
It was reported fire crews were called to the 535,000 square feet shopping complex off Week Street just before 9am.
The store’s management has yet to respond to calls but a source said at 10am that the incident had been "dealt with."
The Mall was built in 1976 as the Stoneborough Centre complete with an office block on top.
In the 1990s it was rebranded as Chequers Shopping Centre.
In 2006, the centre was bought by The Mall Fund and refurbished in pink.
Maidstone council took over the office block in 2007 on a 99-year lease.
The complex also contains the town’s bus station.
