A devoted dad who spent the day with his daughter at Diggerland was killed in a car crash just hours later.
Father-of-three David Rose died at the scene of the smash involving two cars on Saturday evening - the day before his 35th birthday. He had been overtaking at the time of the accident.
At an inquest into the salesman's death today, assistant coroner Kate Thomas was told Mr Rose, of Alkham Road, Maidstone, suffered fatal head injuries.
The hearing will be resumed on Wednesday, July 15.
Mr Rose was the father of two sons and a daughter. Hours before the crash he had spent time with his five-year-old daughter Alysia at Medway's Diggerland attraction.
He also leaves a fiance.
Michelle Parle, the mother of his oldest child, Callum, aged 15, said: "My son has lost a massive part of his life.
"David was an amazing dad who would do anything for his children.
"He will never be forgotten. I will be eternally grateful to him for our gorgeous boy that I know he was so proud of.
"This accident has broken many hearts. He will be sadly missed."
A police report indicated that Mr Rose had been driving a Ford Focus along Pilgrims Way towards Boxley at about 8.30pm on Saturday.
As he moved to overtake a grey Toyota Corolla, he hit a Volkswagen Golf travelling in the opposite direction, before rolling over and coming to a stop in a field.
The driver of the Golf suffered minor injuries.
It happened around 100 metres before the turn-off to Boxley Timber and Fencing Supplies merchants.
Floral tributes have been left by the roadside.
In 2013, the ward of Boxley was named jointly with Maidstone’s High Street as the most dangerous driving area in Kent, recording nearly 100 crashes between them in 2012.
The area has seen two fatal accidents since 2008. In 2009 cyclist Mark Titus died when his bike crashed into a road sign off Boxley Hill. An inquest heard he had been riding it without brakes.
The year before mum Vickie Lowe, 25, crashed into an oncoming car while over the drink-drive limit and using her mobile phone to text and ring her boyfriend.
Officers from the police’s serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone who may have seen the crash involving Mr Rose or the cars prior to the accident is asked to call the police on 01622 798538.
