A woman whose dream home was ‘ploughed’ into said she has been left with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and forced to find somewhere else to live.
Samantha Wilkins was in the hallway when a car rammed into the front of her Boughton Monchelsea house.
She said: “It sounded like a bomb or a plane hitting the roof. The whole house shook.
"If I had been on the sofa two minutes earlier he would have gone straight into me.
“My dog was fitting as I dragged her out the house.
"I could hear people shouting 'Get out the house, he has hit the gas mains.' It was horrendous."
By hitting gas mains, the driver put most of The Green residents in danger, before fleeing the scene.
His car is said to have ended up about 40 feet down the road before stopping.
Neighbours rushed out to help after hearing the almighty crash which left a hole in Miss Wilkin's house.
The owner of two dog care businesses has been staying with a client for the past month and is now looking for somewhere new to live.
The 43-year-old said:"I cannot go to the village without feeling sick. I have been left crippled with anxiety.”
It is estimated it will take at least six months to repair the damage to the front and roof of the house.
Miss Wilkins has been left with chronic PTSD, with any loud noise setting off panic attacks.
She added:"I used to be a confident person but when something like that happens in your own home where you should be most relaxed, it effects you. I am running on adrenaline all the time."
"It was my dream home - I had only moved in a few weeks before.
"I will miss the village so much. It is such a shame that someone can change everything I loved about living there in a second."
Police were called at 8.40pm, March 5 and completed a search for the driver who had left the scene prior to their arrival.
A 34-year-old man from Maidstone was later arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs. He was subsequently released pending further investigation.
