Maidstone United captain Jay Saunders is set to be named the new manager of the Stones following Andy Ford's dramatic resignation.
Ford quit the Ryman League Premier Division basement-boys in the aftermath of their 1-0 home defeat by fellow strugglers Croydon Athletic on Tuesday night.
Saunders (pictured), 32, is in his second-spell at the club after returning from Margate earlier this season and is understood to be meeting chief executive Bill Williams in the County Town on Thursday morning.
Ford quit the club just 24 games after replacing Peter Nott in October, saying it was the 'honourable' thing to do.
His assistant Steve Butler has also left the club, which has not won a home league game this season and enjoyed just four wins under Ford, losing 10 of his final 11 games.

Ford said: "I would like to thank the players, directors and supporters for their support since I have been at the club, but felt that due to the results, it was the honourable thing to resign.
"Being a football manager is all about results and the table does not lie."
He added: "I would also like to thank the backroom staff for the hard work they put in behind the scenes. I hope the club’s quest to return to the town is successful, then the club will have a better chance of moving forward."
