POP mogul Jonathan King was finally released from a Kent prison today, five days after he was originally expected to be freed.

Before Mr King, 60, emerged from Maidstone prison his lawyer, Giovani de Stefano, gave interviews to the reporters waiting outside, saying Mr King and his legal team would be appealing against his convictions.

Mr King walked free just after 7am wearing a black suit and a baseball cap. Speaking to waiting reporters he said he was "totally 100 per cent innocent" and that his lawyer "guaranteed the convictions will be quashed".

He also took the opportunity to promote his new CD while his legal team handed out copies of the single.

Mr King was jailed in 2001 for four indecent assaults and two serious sexual offences involving boys aged 14 and 15.
