A lane has reopened after a vehicle caught alight on the A249 Detling Hill.
Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway just before 11.50am to reports of a vehicle alight.
The small fire was put out soon after crews arrived and there was no extensive damage.
As a result of the fire oil has leaked from the car and KCC Highways attended to clean the spillage and re-open the road.
This was one of a number of incidents on roads around Maidstone today, including a five-car pile-up on the M20 which has closed the road most of the day.
Motorists were advised to approach with caution.
