Plans are afoot to move the Post Office in Allington.

Post Office Ltd wants to move the existing branch from its current location at Appledore Court in Hildenborough Crescent to the McColls newsagents within the Mid Kent Shopping Centre.

The move will enable the Post Office to stay open longer, offering services from 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, instead of 9am to 5.30pm, and also on Sunday from 7am to 1pm, currently it is closed on Sunday.

However, the new branch will not offer Premium Savings Bonds or on-demand travel insurance, which the current branch does.

The two locations are about 480 metres apart, both offer disabled access.

Public comments must be submitted by tomorrow.
