Little Amy Poole might be four this year – but it will only be her first birthday.

She's a girl in a million - five million to be precise, for that’s the number of people across the globe who will be celebrating a leap year birthday on February 29.

It will be the first time the youngster from Reginald Road, Maidstone, will be able to blow out her birthday candles on the date she was born.

Her mum Emma, 37, said the family will be pushing the boat out to ensure she remembers the day until her next “real” birthday in 2016.

She said: “We’re all excited and we’ve got lots of different parties planned.
“She’s a bit too young to appreciate the significance this year, but she’ll be eight the next February 29 and more aware how special it is.”

Emma said she and husband Ray, who also have a son Oliver, five, made the decision to celebrate her non-leap year birthday on February 28.

Happy birthday wishes also go to Staplehurst Primary School teacher, Stefanie Pitney, who turns 32.

And Jayne Mitchell, from Larkfield, is 60 today, but she's also entitled to act her other age - 15.
