A lorry driver had to be treated by paramedics after the HGV he was driving burst into flames.
Two fire crews and a specialist water vehicle were called to Boughton Road in Sandway, near Lenham, at 12.15pm to tackle the blaze.
One passerby said they heard several loud bangs as they went past the scene, thought to have been caused by the tyres exploding.
Firefighters spent nearly an hour putting out the blaze, in which the truck of the lorry was completely destroyed.
The driver was treated for the effects of breathing in smoke by paramedics and taken to hospital.
The road was closed between Headcorn Road and Lenham Heath Road to recover the lorry just after 2pm.
