Town centre roads have been at a standstill after a lorry crashed into traffic lights in Maidstone this afternoon.

Upper Stone Street, Sheal's Crescent and College Road remained gridlocked following the accident which happened at about midday.

A Gloebetrotter truck smashed into the lights in Mill Street, outside the Archbishops Palace, as it headed towards Maidstone Bridge.

No one was injured.

The inside lane of the one-way system remains closed while police await the lorry's recovery.
