A flat-bed lorry has caught fire on the A249, Detling Hill.

It happened on the northbound carriageway at Scragged Oak Road near the County Showground/Bredhurst turn off.

Kent Fire and Rescue confirmed it received the call at 1.55pm, but say the flames have now been extinguished.

Police closed the road temporarily for the public's safety.

There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.
