Drivers were faced with traffic chaos this morning when a lorry broke down on the A249 and spilled oil over the carriageway.
The Spanish-registered lorry had been travelling towards Sittingbourne on the north-bound carriageway when it broke down at the top of Detling Hill at about 4.45am.
Police closed the carriageway while the road was made safe.
Drivers faced traffic chaos, with tailbacks stretching to the M20 and redirected traffic queuing on the A229.
The carriageway was reopened at 8.17am.
