The M20 has been re-opened following a crash involving three cars.
The accident happened in the coast-bound carriageway between J5 for Aylesford and J6 for Maidstone and Chatham just after 10am.
Traffic was held for around an hour to enable emergency services to get to the scene.
It is understood that no one was seriously injured.
A qualified first aider, who was caught up in traffic behind the collision, rushed to the scene.
He said: "I was about eight cars back and saw smoke. I got my high vis out and went to see if I could help. The driver of the yellow car managed to get out and was walking around.
"It is amazing, and a testament to that little car that she wasn't badly hurt.
"It was a very, very lucky escape."
Several police cars and ambulances were at the scene, and queues stretched back to J4 for Leybourne.
Traffic was being diverted via the exit slip-road of J5 and the entry slip-road of J6.
