Maidstone chairman Paul Bowden-Brown has confirmed that local businessman David Folb is the only person to have expressed interest in buying the club so far.

Mr Bowden-Brown admitted he had received "one or two other phone inquiries" but the first meeting, an informal discussion with Mr Folb’s representative, former Stones player Glenn Aitken, took place on Thursday night.

Mr Bowden-Brown (pictured) said: "It is my wish to stand aside, I am tired and feel I have taken the club as far as I can.

"I have been involved in taking us back to play at Ashford, and have handed over negotiations about the sale to others, including my representative (Maidstone communications manager) Ian Tucker."

While Mr Folb now appears to be in pole position to take control of the Stones, Mr Bowden-Brown says talks with Oliver Ash are ongoing, despite the shareholder backing out of making an offer last week.
