Maidstone face Drybrook in the Senior Vase national semi-final on Saturday but James Davies is out with a broken leg

Winger James Davies is out of Maidstone Rugby Club’s Twickenham bid and will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg.

Davies suffered the injury during last weekend’s victory over Gillingham Anchorians and was due to have surgery on his leg on Monday.

Maidstone take on Gloucester Premier League Drybrook in the Senior Vase national semi-final at The Mote on Saturday (KO 3pm).

And coach Andy Foley is disappointed to be without the man who scored the opening try in the regional final win over Cantabrigian.

Foley (pictured) said: "It’s unfortunate. He made a tackle and his boot got stuck in the mud. He’s been great and is a lot of people’s pick for player-of-the-year.

"Hopefully he’ll be back for the start of next season."

Maidstone fell at the national semi-final stage last year but Foley believes his side are ready to go one better this time and reach Twickenham.

He said: "This year, we go into it in a different frame of mind where we’re confident and looking to impose ourselves."

Adult entry to the game is £5, as dictated by RFU rules, while under-16s go free.
