Imagine if you went out for a drink in town, walked through the underpass under Fairmeadow, and found you'd somehow accidentally stumbled into Glastonbury.

That's exactly what's going to happen to you if you go out in Maidstone between Thursday May 3 and Monday, May 7. Well, almost exactly.

The Maidstone Fringe Festival will bring more than 100 of the best live acts Kent has to offer to a host of venues around the town for five days in a row - meaning music fans can go out throughout the bank holiday weekend and be certain of finding something pleasing to the ear.

Among the confirmed line up so far are top Kent names such as Dave Midgen & The Dirty Words, The Soundcasters and Syd Arthur, while Maidstone acts will also feature strongly.

Try not to miss the note-perfect yet visceral rock n' roll of Ben Jones; the mercurial indie-folk of The David Rumsey Band, and the West Coast-pop-on-steroids sound of Burning Shapes.

The Kent Messenger newspaper and website will bring further details and announcements in the run up the festival.
