A strong finish to the first half of the South League Premier Division 1 season has put Maidstone men’s 1st XI in positive mood as they prepare for next month’s indoor campaign.

Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Oxford University provided further evidence of Maidstone’s recent revival of form which has seen them pick up 10 points from their last five games. Goals from Kevin Johnson, Ben Harvey and Chris Bassano-Harper ensured Maidstone go into the winter break full of confidence.

The squad can now switch their attention to national indoor action in Division 1.

The competition takes place over two weekends in Bristol - January 16-17 and 23-24.

Maidstone ladies' 1sts came from behind to beat undefeated league leaders Dereham 2-1 in East Premier Division on Saturday, both goals coming from Rachel Thompson.

The following day Maidstone survived a late fightback to secure a 5-4 win at Sevenoaks and a place in the last four of the Kent Cup.
