Kirsty Hotson scored twice as Maidstone Ladies won 2-0 at bottom side Cambridge University in the East Women’s Premier League on Saturday.
Back-to-back victories leave Maidstone fourth in the table, three points behind leaders Dereham.
They dominated the game but were frustrated by a packed home defence with Lizzie Daniels, pictured, going close twice before Hotson put them ahead five minutes before the interval.
The second half proved a similar story, with any home attacks snuffed out by solid Maidstone defending.
At the other end, the overworked University keeper managed to stop everything with a mixture of pads, feet and gloves, while several other efforts were scrambled away.
Maidstone’s patience was finally rewarded when Hotson netted her second 10 minutes from time, sealing a third win of the season.
Maidstone host Bromley and Beckenham on Saturday (1.45pm).
Maidstone men are still looking for their first points of the season in the South Region Premier League after a 4-2 home defeat by Staines. Chris Bassano-Harper got both goals.
Stones are away to Teddington on Saturday (1.45pm).
