Maidstone man arrested in A2 crash probe

A Maidstone man has been released on bail after a crash which left a motorcyclist in hospital with serious head injuries.

A 32-year-old man from Maidstone was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a collision involving a light blue Ford Focus and black Yamaha YBR 125 motorbike.

The smash happened on Thursday on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Bean at 1.25am.

The man has been released on bail until February 28.

The motorcyclist, a local man in his 50s, was been taken to King’s Hospital in London with serious head injuries.

Investigators are keen to speak with two drivers who it’s believed were behind the collision at the time, in lanes one and two.

The road was closed between the junction for Bean and the A2260 while officers carried out an investigation, but reopened at 9.35am.

Witnesses should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
