Maidstone United's FA Trophy run was ended in the first round by Blue Square Premier side Histon at Homelands on Tuesday night.
After being postponed six times, the game went ahead at last, but despite long spells of pressure, the Stones were no match for their full-time opponents.
Danny Wright set the Stutes on their way with a penalty six minutes before the break but the Stones enjoyed 20 minutes of good pressure in the second half.
Despite their dominance, two goals in the final three minutes from sub Andrew Tidswell and Adam Tann gave the scoreline a flattering look and secured Histon a second round tie at Salisbury on Tuesday, with the winners going on to face Cambridge United or Eastbourne Borough in round three.
