Maidstone boss Andy Ford says his side will not get a better chance to record back-to-back wins and boost their Ryman League, Premier Division survival chances than against Croydon Athletic on Saturday.
The Rams are one of two sides below the Stones in the table but Ford’s side are only ahead on goal difference, while just two points separates the teams from fifth-bottom Hastings, who have played a game more.
Saturday’s 3-2 win at Hendon was Maidstone’s first win in seven but for months Ford (pictured) has recognised the impact that consecutive wins would have on their chances of avoiding the drop.
He admitted: "This may be the best chance we get. We will go into the game positively and take confidence from Saturday’s result."
He admitted he would be working on defensive issues in the build-up to the game after seeing his side concede from a set-piece for the third game in succession at Hendon.
Ford said: "We do need to tighten up at the back and we’ve been working on that this week.
"We need to cut out the individual errors. But it was great to see the same back four twice in a row for a change."
Ford was playing his cards close to his chest regarding his team selection and said he would assess his options after training on Thursday.
