Maidstone embark on a trip to Billericay on Saturday determined to build on last week’s win over Carshalton.
With so few points between the play-off and relegation places in the Ryman League Premier Division, caretaker boss Peter Nott, pictured, is looking forwards rather than backwards.
He said: “It’s not too late to challenge for a play-off place. We’ve got to aim high and if we win two or three then all of a sudden we’re away from the relegation zone and there’s an opportunity we could creep in. You can’t rule anything out.”
Maidstone this week announced that general manager Bill Williams will take on the additional role of director of football.
High on Williams’ remit will be to get a permanent training facility for the club, something Nott thinks is vital.
“We desperately need some facilities and it’s certainly been a weakness for us,” said Nott. "All season we’ve been skipping along here and there and it would be great to have a permanent facility.”
Nott, meanwhile, has been in talks with former Stones striker Meshach Nugent following his release by VCD, but with another club in the hunt he feels the chances of a return are “remote”.
