Andy Ford says he doesn’t want to build-up Monday’s Ryman League Premier Division trip to Kent and relegation rivals Folkestone Invicta any more than it already is.
The sides have hovered in and around the drop-zone all season and the pack ahead of the bottom-four has started to inch ahead.
The teams meet in the league for the first time since the Stones won 1-0 at the Buzzlines Stadium to preserve their own Premier Division status and condemn Invicta to relegation in 2008.
Victory would see Maidstone leapfrog Invicta, though they would remain in the bottom-four and have played a game more than the Seasiders.
Stones boss Andy Ford (pictured) said: “Hopefully the game will go ahead and it doesn’t take much common sense to see how important a game it is. I’m sure everyone, the players included, is aware of that.
“You don’t have to build it up, you don’t want to add extra pressure onto it, particularly with the younger players. It doesn’t help. Everyone knows how important it is.”
One player set to line-up against the Stones is Antonio Gonella who has signed for Folkestone after quitting Maidstone in search of first-team football.
