Maidstone boss Jay Saunders wants his players to forget they are ‘back in the driving seat’ for a promotion play-off place and keep playing the uninhibited football which has brought them three-straight wins.
Stones snuck back into fifth in Ryman League Division 1 South after a 3-0 victory against Chipstead at Bourne Park on Saturday.
They are unbeaten in four and have won three on the spin, scoring eight and conceding just one goal to lie one goal ahead of sixth-placed Godalming on goal-difference and three points ahead of seventh-placed Worthing.
Saunders (pictured) said: "If I’m honest, two or three weeks back, when the other teams had games in hand on us, you wonder in the back of your mind if we’d blown it, and the pressure was taken off us.
"We’ve looked comfortable the last few weeks, we’ve found a formation that’s working and we’ve played some good stuff.
"After winning on Saturday I guess we are back in the driving seat, but I don’t want our mindset to change now."
Maidstone visit struggling Walton Casuals on Saturday while Godalming travel to third-bottom Sittingbourne and Worthing are at Hythe.
Saunders said: "The ideal situation would be for us to win and the other two to lose, but I suspect there will be a few more twists before the season is over.
Alex Flisher is fit to return and Saunders returns from a ban, meaning the Stones squad are all available, with the exception of long-term absentees Gavin Greenfield and Michael Phillips (both knee).
