Maidstone United have snapped-up three new players from higher division teams as they prepare for life in Ryman League Division 1 South.
Stones boss Jay Saunders has swooped to re-sign former teammate and ex-United forward James Pinnock from Margate and has also raided Hartsdown Park for Bearsted-based striker Alex Waugh, who scored nine goals in eight games on loan at Faversham Town last season.
Veteran goalkeeper Charlie Mitten is the third new arrival, replacing Andy Walker who departs for Cray Wanderers.
Mitten finished last season at fellow relegated side Croydon Athletic, having previously played for Dover, Gillingham, Margate, Ebbsfleet United, Hastings United, Faversham Town, Welling United, Cray and Thurrock.
Saunders said: "I know Charlie and Pinno both very well indeed and they are the kind of experienced players that I want in my team as they will help nurture and bring along the younger players in the squad.
"My young players can only learn positive things from players like them."
He added: "Alex Waugh was at Margate with me and I was very impressed by his attitude and his potential. He will score goals for us especially with the supply of crosses from Ellis Green and Alex Flisher.”
Pinnock said: “It’ll be strange playing for Jay, but I know him very well and he has explained his plans for the season to me and I am very excited to be able to take the chance to be a part of those plans.”
