The protracted saga of the takeover of Maidstone United rumbles on, with an expected completion date of September 30 passing.

It is believed the deal for investor Oliver Ash to take control from current chairman Paul Bowden-Brown which has already been agreed in principle will be ratified within the next 10 days.

The club's general manager Bill Williams (pictured) - who is set to take day-to-day control of club affairs once the takeover is complete - claimed legal paperwork is the only thing holding the deal up.

He said: "I am fully aware and conscious that dates have been set and missed, which obviously increases the anxiety of all those concerned.

"Let me reassure everyone that everything possible is being done to finalise the deal that was agreed in principle a few weeks ago.

"All parties are keen to do this as soon as possible."
