Maidstone United will play at Homelands next season, despite suggestions from Ashford Town that they will not.

The Stones have a groundshare agreement with Town director and owner of the freehold Tony Betteridge to play at the ground.

However, comments posted on Ashford’s official website – overseen by Town chairman Don Crosbie who is involved in a dispute with Mr Betteridge – claimed Stones were "unlikely" to remain at Homelands "due to serious violations of the lease agreement".

The row is understood to centre on payments between the clubs relating to the groundshare.

The Stones have received support from Mr Betteridge, who said: "There are contracts between Ashford Town and Maidstone United and, as far as I am aware, nothing has happened which would put Maidstone in breach of those contracts and so I expect them to be playing at Homelands."

A statement from Stones chairman Paul Bowden-Brown, pictured, said: "The club can confirm there has been no breach of the lease with the owners of Homelands. Therefore, the club will continue to play at Homelands this season."
