Gas repairs which have been delayed since January are now set to shut a busy road for three weeks.
Postley Road in Maidstone will be closed for essential works being carried out by SGN.
The gas works were originally going to take place on January 3 for two weeks.
However, on the day SGN confirmed the project would have to be rescheduled.
Postley Road will now be shut from next Monday (February 20) until March 13.
On one.network the closure is said to be permitted to run for an extra three days, until Thursday, March 16.
The stretch of road leads onto Hayle Road – part of the town's main one-way system.
It also connects through to Quarry Road, Armstrong Road and onto the A229.
Forest Hill, an adjoining road, will also be closed for 12 days during this time – from Monday, February 27 until Friday, March 10.
A spokesperson from SGN said: "Our engineers will be replacing our old metal mains with new plastic pipe in Postley Road to ensure local properties continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply.
"These essential gas network upgrades will start on Monday, February 20 and take approximately three weeks to complete.
"During this time, and to ensure everyone’s safety around our work area, the road will be closed to motorists in both directions between its roundabout junction with Armstrong Road and Tattershall Road.
"A signed diversion route will be in place, but access will be maintained for residents."
