Two people have been arrested after a serious assault in Maidstone.

The incident happened at a house in Hayle Road just after 2pm and resulted in a 48-year-old man, from Maidstone, being flown to London's King's College Hospital with stomach injuries.

A woman from Chatham, also 48, was taken to a local hospital by road with minor injuries.

They are known to each other and have both since been arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody.

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed inquiries into the incident are ongoing but said no one else is thought to have been involved.
