A man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with possessing an imitation weapon.

William David Darby, 39, of Kingsley Road, Maidstone, appeared before Maidstone magistrates on Wednesday charged with possession of an imitation firearm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Crown Court on Monday, June 30.

The charges follow an incident in Kingsley Road, Maidstone, on Tuesday when armed police sealed off part of the town for several hours.
