A man has been arrested and a woman was taken to hospital after armed police stormed a flat in a quiet street.
Police have returned to the scene at Terminus Road in Barming, Maidstone, today after the incident yesterday morning, where a cordon was put in place near the junction with Tonbridge Road.
A woman, believed to be the mother of the man, was found to have suffered serious injuries..
Four police cars and an ambulance were spotted outside the flat above Traga Laundrette on Tonbridge Road yesterday.
A neighbour who asked to remain anonymous said: "We have a room at the back of the house alongside one of their rooms and could hear the bangs.
"His mum doesn't live there but visits him every day to take care of him.
"There was lots of commotion. There was shouting and I heard the door open and the woman shouting for help.
"A good samaritan was asking what was happening and wanted to help and was trying to calm the man down.
"We could hear it getting worse. The mum was brought down on a stretcher and she has a neck brace. I just hope she's okay."
Tobe Leigh, 43, of Glebe Lane, said: "I was walking my dog, and just as I was going to turn to go up Terminus Road, I saw the armed police.
"This was at about 11.30am, I saw them in all their gear, one of the guys looked like Robocop and I thought it looked a bit drastic.
"I went up to one of the officers to see what had happened but they wouldn't tell.
"I did see armed police in the flat above the laundrette though, then a woman who got stretchered down the stairs into an ambulance."
A neighbour who wanted to remain anonymous said: "They were at the top of my road in the flat above the laundrette, all I know is a man was arrested and lady taken away in ambulance.
"A few people have said they saw a distressed girl running about before the armed police turned up."
A witness who did not wish to be named said: "I came out of my house and the manager of the laundrette said 'get in your house quick' because I was holding my baby.
"And then just loads of armed police came. The police have been patrolling all night. I think it's something to do with the flat above the laundrette. I think someone was also carried out by the ambulance."
Another neighbour who asked to remain anonymous said: "There were two unmarked cars and three normal police ones I think.
"I saw a man being arrested. I'd never seen him before apparently he has lived there for a while.
