A man in his 30s has died after being pulled from the River Medway early this morning.

Police were called to the scene at 6.30am, after concerns were raised for a person spotted in the river, near St Peter’s Street in Maidstone.

Officers and ambulance crews attended and the man was taken to hospital, where he was later declared deceased.

Police have confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

It is understood a stretch of St Peter's Street was closed this morning, while emergency services were at the scene.
