Man held over £20k jewels raid on Michael Whitcombe Jewellers in Sevenoaks

A man has been arrested after a £20,000 armed raid on a jewellers' in Sevenoaks.

Police were called to Michael Whitcombe Jewellers, in the High Street, in the middle of a robbery yesterday.

The raider fled the store, but was detained by a member of the public nearby.

Officers recovered an imitation firearm and jewellery estimated to be worth around £20,000.

A 34-year-old man, from Sevenoaks, has now been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

DCI David Coleman, from Kent Police, said: "We are now in the process of gathering further evidence and I would like to thank the public for their assistance. I would also encourage anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward to help us with our enquiries."

Anyone with any information to the robbery, shortly before 5pm, is asked to phone Kent Police on 101, quoting crime reference 04-1165.
