A man who allegedly stole alcohol from a Morrisons, threatened a security guard with a knife and tried to steal a car has been charged with nine offences.
Police were called to several incidents on Wednesday, July 12, which started at around 9.40pm when a man was reported to have stolen booze from Morrisons, off Sutton Road, Maidstone, and threatened a security guard with a knife.
Over the next hour, police were called to further incidents nearby where a man was seen armed and making threats.
This included one in Furfield Close, where it is alleged a victim was threatened with a knife during an attempt to steal his vehicle.
Patrols attended and at around 10.40pm the suspect was found in a garden and arrested. A knife was also seized.
Today, Michael Dunn, 50, of Victoria Grove, Folkestone, was charged with nine offences.
These were possessing a knife in a public place, threats to kill, attempted robbery, threatening a person with a knife, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft, affray, driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He was remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
