A mum-of-four’s night out almost ended in disaster when her drink was spiked as she danced in a bar.
Helen Hand was only saved after her friend Emma Gleave spotted a man drop a little white pill into her drink as they partied at The Source bar in Maidstone.
It was a hallucinogenic drug known as N-Bomb, which produces strong and nasty effects on victims.
The man behind it, Tadas Rasciauskas, was locked up for two-and-a-half years this week.
Miss Hand, who now wants to warn others about how easy it is to fall victim, said: “He offered me a drink. It was a pint of Foster’s.
“I went to take it but Emma came back over and whacked the drink out of my hand.
She shouted: ‘No! He’s put something in that’.”
Miss Hand, who admits to being very drunk, was on a night out with a group of friends and had been drinking in various pubs since about 4.30pm.
The full-time mum, who volunteers at Ducklings of Detling Pre-school, said: “We’d started drinking early and hadn’t got around to getting any food. It happened at about 11.15pm and I was pretty cut by then.
“I love dancing and I was having a good boogie. This guy was trying to dance with me but I was in my own little bubble.”
She said she didn’t believe it at first but after bouncers called police, tests revealed it the pint had been spiked.
Single Miss Hand, of Randall Street, who has a 12-year-old daughter and sons aged 10, five and four, is grateful her children are not old enough to go out drinking yet.
The 38-year-old continued: “It scared the life out of me. I know people who’ve had their drinks spiked but you just don’t realise these things could happen to you. It really makes you think.
“I am so grateful to Emma. We all look out for each other when we go out and I was so lucky she was there.
“I would say to anyone on a night out, just don’t leave your drinks lying around, ever. You can get these bottle tops from the Urban Blue Bus to stop people putting things in bottled drinks.
“I used to do promotional work in bars, including Source Bar, so I know this kind of thing can happen but it still almost happened to me.”
