A MAN on his way to post a letter was stabbed in the shoulder in an unprovoked attack on a Maidstone housing estate early this morning.

The man, in his thirties, was attacked from behind and pushed to the ground as he walked along Cooling Close, Vinters Park, shortly after midnight. His attacker ran off and the victim discovered he had a minor stab wound.

Maidstone and Malling Police spokeswoman Gianna Pollero said: "The victim just wasn't able to give us a description at all because it happened from behind.
