A man suffered serious facial injuries when he fell down an escalator at a Maidstone shopping centre.

The victim, aged in his 50s, was flown to King's College Hospital in London for further treatment after being found unconscious near Wilko in The Mall.

Three ambulances as well as the air ambulance were called to the scene just before 4.30pm yesterday.

It is suspected he fell over the side from half way up. The circumstances are not suspicious.
