A man has been taken to a London hospital after being hit by a car.

Police officers were called just after 9pm yesterday (October 1) to the incident in Well Road, near the junction with Wheeler Street, in Maidstone.

They attended alongside paramedics and a man in his 20s was taken to a Kings College Hospital, in London, for treatment.

The road was closed while the incident was responded to.

It was reopened at around 10.45pm.
