A man had to be treated by paramedics for serious leg injuries after being hit by a car.

Police officers were called to Loose Road, Maidstone, at around 7.50pm. Ambulance crews attended the scene where the vehicle had left prior to their arrival.

A man was treated for injuries described as serious and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for further medical attention.

A 25-year-old man from Maidstone was subsequently arrested at around 9pm the same evening on suspicion of assault. He remains in police custody.

A 51-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault and is also in police custody.
