A McDonald's security guard has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a police officer while resisting arrest.
The charge arose out of an incident at the Week Street branch in Maidstone on September 11 when a number of girls were allegedly abusive to staff and customers and police were called.
Doorman Muhammed Usman appeared at Maidstone Magistrates' Court today, 10 Oct where he elected for the case to be heard before jury at Crown Court.
Prosecutor Terry Knox said there had been an incident in which customers had thrown water over Mr Usman and it was said he responded by throwing coffee over them.
When police arrived, Mr Knox said that Mr Usman, 30, had said "That's it, I'm off" and had walked away.
Police chased after him and it is then that he allegedly resisted arrest.
His defence solicitor offered no mitigation at this preliminary hearing.
The chairman of the bench, Gill Fryzer, released Usman, of Greenbanks Close, Lewisham, in London, on unconditional bail to appear at Crown Court on November 7.
