A newly-elected Brexit Party MEP and former Kent MP and Conservative minister has come under fire for comments about gay people.
Ann Widdecombe, who represented Maidstone and The Weald in the House of Commons until 2010, was talking about comments where she said science may "produce an answer" to homosexuality.
In an interview with Sky News yesterday she said the possibility should not be ruled out that people who are confused about their sexuality can undergo change.
Comedian Stephen Fry condemned Miss Widdecombe reacted on Twitter, saying: "Will science ever find an answer to Ann Widdecombe?".
And gay Labour MP Wes Streeting said Miss Widdecombe was "a relic".
It comes as the 71-year-old won a seat as an MEP for the South West of England in the recent European elections.
Miss Widdecombe was blasted by Celebrity Big Brother fans for accidentally referring to trans housemate, India Willoughby, as 'he'.
