You’ll probably think you’ve had enough to drink by the time the sun rises on January 1 , but you’ll be wrong.
Not only are there five more days until Twelfth Night, but two Wetherspoon pubs in Maidstone are turning the clock back to a time when you can celebrate it like that great Christmas guzzler Sir Toby Belch himself.
Staff at the High Street's Muggleton Inn and Week Street's Society Rooms are winding up their pint-pulling arms and preparing to spin punters back in time - not quite to 1601 - but to 1992, when the average price of a pint was, according to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), £1.29.
From Tuesday, January 3, until Wednesday, January 11, drinkers will pay that same price for a pint of Greene King Ruddles Best Bitter. Other drinks will be on offer - but at slightly more modern prices, with a pint of Carlsberg at £1.99.
Raymond Chart, manager of The Muggleton Inn, hopes shoppers scouring the January sales will be in need of a bargain pint to quench their parched souls.
"I am sure my customers will welcome the reduction in prices, especially at the start of the year," he said.
"Department stores and shops hold their sales in January and I believe that given the choice of a trip to a sale at the shops or a sale at The Muggleton Inn, most people would prefer a visit to the pub.
"As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly."
