A millionaire landlord has watched his horse take first prize at Sandown after a former soldier rode it to a £13,000 victory.
Fergus Wilson’s horse Rathlin Rose raced in the 3pm at Sandown today and bagged a huge £13,800 prize.
Jockey Guy Disney, who was wounded while fighting in Afghanistan in the Middle East, is set to keep the prize money following his racing heroics in the Royal Artillery Gold Cup.
Captain Disney had previously tasted success with Rathlin Rose, trained by David Pipe, after winning last year’s race and coming third during 2015’s event.
The latest victory comes after Captain Disney had his lower right leg blown off while fighting in action nine years ago.
