Toploader and David Bowie tribute act among artists performing at Maidstone's Big Day Out festival

The second set of acts to appear at Maidstone's newest music and arts festival have been revealed.

Revellers will be dancing in the moonlight as Toploader joins the line-up for the brand new Big Day Out festival, set to take place in Mote Park in June.

The alternative rock band will be joined by The Hoosiers and Britain's Got Talent favourites, Diversity.

Characters Peppa Pig and George will also entertain younger audiences at the ticketed event.

Organisers have also announced the UK's top David Bowie tribute act - Absolute Bowie - will appear. The music legend died of cancer earlier this year, aged 69.

Maidstone's biggest park is no stranger to events of this magnitude, it welcomed acts such as Madonna for Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2008, and it will welcome back Ramblin' Man Fair following its successful debut last year.

Aimed at families, CBeebies presenters and characters including Mashall and Cashe from Nickelodeon show, Paw Patrol, will be appearing - alongside a massive children's play area.

The day will also feature beer, ale and cider tents, as well as world food stalls.

Laura Dickson, Maidstone council's marketing and sales manager, said: "We are delighted Mote Park is the chosen venue for this music festival aimed at families.

"The interest in it is immense and we expect the tickets will set out very quickly."

The organisers revealed its location and date on a Facebook page last month.

More than 14,000 people have said they're interested in attending.
