There were delays for motorists in a busy town centre shortly after 8am this morning.

A car was left immobile after suffering a broken axle in Maidstone.

The incident did not result in any injuries, but the vehicle was stranded in Terrace Road, a key part of the one-way system on the Broadway, Tonbridge Road side of the river, causing long delays.

It was cleared with the road back to normal by 9.30am.
